5 Simple ways to improve the quality of your broadcast

High quality broadcasts will attract more viewers and allow you to get more subscribers. Here are some simple tips to improve the quality of your broadcasts.

Improve your lighting

Anyone who knows anything about videography and photography can tell you that lighting is EVERYTHING. Try to broadcast in a well-lit area, preferably in daylight (perhaps near a window). For best results, use LED lighting. A simple LED ring light can take your broadcast to another level.

Use a dedicated music device

Many presenters like to listen to music while broadcasting. If you do, PLEASE do not use your broadcast device to play music. That’s why:

Depending on the location of the speaker and microphone on your phone/tablet, music may drown out your voice.

The music played on the device is usually too loud and distorted for viewers.

You may have to exit the Liveme app to change the song, which is a bad idea.

The easiest solution is to play music on a nearby device with a good set of speakers. For best results, use speakers with a subwoofer. Plug them into your computer, TV, or spare mobile device.

Hold the broadcast device steady

We’ve all seen the host spend the first 4 minutes of the air trying to hold the phone to a stack of books on the windowsill. Of course it crashes after a few minutes.

Some of the other hosts just hold the device, but sway and move so much that you get seasick when you try to watch. Do yourself and your viewers a favor and buy a phone mount.

An added benefit of using device mounts is that they can also help with lighting.

Ether on the background

I’ve seen presenters use trendy wallpapers, paints, stickers, and even plasma TVs to create an aesthetically pleasing backdrop. It really makes the broadcast look lively and professional.

You can even write social media contact information and answers to frequently asked questions on your background. You no longer have to constantly answer the questions “how old are you” or “what is your Instagram?”. Viewers will be able to see this information against your cool background.

Broadcasting on a quality device

If you’re streaming on a device that’s 5 years old, it might be time for an update. Your iPhone 4s or older Samsung may still work well for texting and web browsing, but it may degrade the quality of the broadcast.

New smartphone models are equipped with the best front cameras. Battery life is generally better. WiFi chips and processors are faster. All this improved hardware delivers a clearer stream with lower latency.
